Perfectly safe - surely all that he did was to weld a nut that fits the gas valve to the end of a bolt, thereby making a key?

I did this bodge on the Kubota a while back, still going strong:
The exhaust fell off and was only being held on my the guard so I got a bit of fencing wire, wrapped it round the exhaust and chassis and tightened with a cable tie to keep the exhaust pulled together. Now it's quieter and goes a lot better too.

For the 2nd year jackdaws nested in my chimney in room we don't use fire in summer. Tryed sweeping it and bush wouldn't go up rods or drain screw went up but wouldn't move nest so I made this bit of bar and a nut quick buzz with welder and poked it up and 2 mins and best was down.
