Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

I see where you are coming from. But do you think that we could all do what you are doing and that it would still work?
What I do is promote Brit Ag, I don't do anything special except sell the story. And whilst not everyone has the ability to sell direct, every single one of us has the ability to sell "Brit Ag" and all it's benefits, this in turn creates demand. What gets my back up is the ease in which we could all promote Brit Ag, but so many of us simply complain and do nothing, end of day it's our produce, and whilst the levy bodies have a responsibility, the first one starts with us, but as long as we have those who think it's our right to a good price just because the Aussies get one, then nothing will change.

What a load of BS you spout, the crucial world is “assurance” and I give it to my customers in spades just like a butcher, local restaurant etc. You moan about the market price of your produce whilst I achieve approx £1/kg more for mine due to my efforts. Has the penny dropped yet...
Do you self "mot " your own car? its only a bit of assurance afters all. How many kgs a day do you sell of your self assured meat? I can see it working on a very small scale but there are people you are preaching to who would be killing several lorry loads a week.

No farm shop, just direct to customers, restaurants and butchers, however, I do ask them about their understanding of RT, most are aware but assume it means British, some believe that means better standards but that's as far as it goes.
we do some direct and have never been asked about RT or anything like that, I have told people they are welcome to come and see the animals, we don't do any assurance apart from keeping the animals as we see fit but we are always happy to tell folk about them

Fully get that it's not for everyone, but it is scaleable if you're that way inclined, as demonstrated by this guy, doing 150/ week year round for the Bamford family.
Most of us chose not to go that route and that's fine but you have to accept commodity prices if that's the market you're aiming for.

But I think @runny egg 's wider point is that we should all make an effort to promote our product rather than just be known as wining farmers.

MOT is law unlike FA, if FA were law then I would still be with RT but would would still pursue our own direct routes and assurances as these generate more demand and a better price than the current FA options. I don’t know of a single restaurant who quotes RT on the menu but plenty who name the farm. It seems this topic is about agreeing FA isn’t working but disagreeing on the solution, each to their own.

Oh ffs,he’s just stating that Ozzie’s are getting record prices for their sheepmeat whilst everything sold prime here is in the doldrums and some on here try to pick holes in his point. :banghead:
Good for the Aussies
What I’m saying is compared to British lamb it’s like comparing apples and pears there is no comparison at all
Is lamb that bad at the moment I don’t think it is the house wife has a budget of what they can afford what’s wrong is that costs are to expensive
And he picks enough fuzking holes so if he gives it out he can have it back

RT needs to do more for those that pay for it, if shoppers were seeking out RT products and prepared to buy them over non RT/import even if it was a bit more money then farmers would be queuing up to join but their not so their not
