Ewes up here were for nothing last backend. Most at cull price. The same ewes sold as couples this spring will have left money
ive sold 133 swale culls, had some more away tonight, averaged £47.50.Ewes up here were for nothing last backend. Most at cull price. The same ewes sold as couples this spring will have left money
Take an intrest in their milk price, but very different job to here. So wont try and compareIt was actually a Dorset x...........................
But strange that you are concerned with the Milk price in that part of the world beef farmer as it clearly has a bearing on UK milk prices but are claiming that the sheep job is totally different in that respect................
I bought some breeding draft Swales last year for £25.They have lambed and done alright. At that rate, you could almost buy two breeders for one cull.ive sold 133 swale culls, had some more away tonight, averaged £47.50.
Hopefully that will go a long way towards buying the replacements.
thats the way to do it,you will be after some more!I bought some breeding draft Swales last year for £25.They have lambed and done alright. At that rate, you could almost buy two breeders for one cull.
Are they lambs or hoggetsLambs hit yet another high this week in Australia to top at $354.20 dollars for 11 month old lambs..
Meanwhile in the UK at Sedgemoor on Monday trade dropped 20pk on the week to only average about 171pk.......................or £75 a lamb!
I thought Chicken was Chlorine and Beef was growth promoters? It’s not the farmers but the slaughter and meat management that’s very poor, that’s why so much is washed in chlorine. If you’ve ever handled beef the last thing you want to do is wash it let alone in chlorine
75% of beef is washed in chlorine, the incidence of e-coli in the American feedlots is very high so rather than cutting out the source the cheapest option is to put domestos on the beefI thought Chicken was Chlorine and Beef was growth promoters?
Had £68 for ten year old cull Cheviots today, tried not to smile to much as the lamb trade was dire £69 for 41kg lambsive sold 133 swale culls, had some more away tonight, averaged £47.50.
Hopefully that will go a long way towards buying the replacements.
Them lambs would of made a £5 more at Longtown's opening store saleHad £68 for ten year old cull Cheviots today, tried not to smile to much as the lamb trade was dire £69 for 41kg lambs
Oh ffs,he’s just stating that Ozzie’s are getting record prices for their sheepmeat whilst everything sold prime here is in the doldrums and some on here try to pick holes in his point. Are they lambs or hoggets
Not very fair comparing to 16 week old lambs
Were they a good trade?Them lambs would of made a £5 more at Longtown's opening store sale
For what there was (not a great show ) l thought so, there was some chancy Suffolks but not everyone's cup of tea. Were they a good trade?
What a load of BS you spout, the crucial world is “assurance” and I give it to my customers in spades just like a butcher, local restaurant etc. You moan about the market price of your produce whilst I achieve approx £1/kg more for mine due to my efforts. Has the penny dropped yet...Your scheme isn't worth the paper its written on if its not audited by a third party!
A bit of joke that no one audits your scheme yet you think its better than the RT scheme that actually is audited..........................
The RT scheme is robust and fit for purpose ref the scheme rules, the problem is the marketing of the logo/ what it stands for etc to consumers is NOT fit for purpose.
Untill they sort out the branding/ marketing of the RT logo/ what its stands for to consumers then farmers will have very little patience in accepting even tighter scheme rules and that is now clear with so many farmers now quitting the RT scheme!
Do you sell it in a farm shop ? if so do you get asked if it is RT very often ?What a load of BS you spout, the crucial world is “assurance” and I give it to my customers in spades just like a butcher, local restaurant etc. You moan about the market price of your produce whilst I achieve approx £1/kg more for mine due to my efforts. Has the penny dropped yet...
I see where you are coming from. But do you think that we could all do what you are doing and that it would still work? What a load of BS you spout, the crucial world is “assurance” and I give it to my customers in spades just like a butcher, local restaurant etc. You moan about the market price of your produce whilst I achieve approx £1/kg more for mine due to my efforts. Yes and we can see where the demand is, the gap is forever closing. Processed meat ahead of cutsPound for pound, old ewe mutton works out dearer then lamb The ethnic market is a blessing for us sheep farmers.
The cull cow trade is also held up by the ethnic demand, they hoover up all mince
Surely pound for pound ewes are still cheaper....what are cull ewes per kilo live as a guesstimate? £1/kg?Pound for pound, old ewe mutton works out dearer then lamb The ethnic market is a blessing for us sheep farmers.
