Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

It was actually a Dorset x...........................

But strange that you are concerned with the Milk price in that part of the world beef farmer as it clearly has a bearing on UK milk prices but are claiming that the sheep job is totally different in that respect................
Take an intrest in their milk price, but very different job to here. So wont try and compare

Didn’t actually go down to Exeter today due to too much on but sent 113 6tooth ewes or 3 croppers depending where you are in the country!! Similar to last year back a few quid but had a flier last year. 4 pens of Suffolk mules made 133 130 125 127. Small pen of 12 Suffolk x Cheviots made 137 and 2 pens of Cheviot mules sold for 116 and 109. Cheviots would be up but sold far more last year and despite travelling at 4am it was seriously hot and didn’t look themselves on the day. Last year suff mules got to 140 and bottomed at 122. Very pleased but strong good ewes and guess high cull value putting a bottom in trade. A few minutes chat to Russel and he said Suffolk’s easy to sell on a keen trade. Other breeds especially Teale cross ewes a lot harder work. Amazing how quick things change. Any tex x been easy to sell the past few years

It’s not the farmers but the slaughter and meat management that’s very poor, that’s why so much is washed in chlorine. If you’ve ever handled beef the last thing you want to do is wash it let alone in chlorine
I thought Chicken was Chlorine and Beef was growth promoters?

Your scheme isn't worth the paper its written on if its not audited by a third party!

A bit of joke that no one audits your scheme yet you think its better than the RT scheme that actually is audited..........................

The RT scheme is robust and fit for purpose ref the scheme rules, the problem is the marketing of the logo/ what it stands for etc to consumers is NOT fit for purpose.

Untill they sort out the branding/ marketing of the RT logo/ what its stands for to consumers then farmers will have very little patience in accepting even tighter scheme rules and that is now clear with so many farmers now quitting the RT scheme!
What a load of BS you spout, the crucial world is “assurance” and I give it to my customers in spades just like a butcher, local restaurant etc. You moan about the market price of your produce whilst I achieve approx £1/kg more for mine due to my efforts. Has the penny dropped yet...

I see where you are coming from. But do you think that we could all do what you are doing and that it would still work?

Pound for pound, old ewe mutton works out dearer then lamb(n) The ethnic market is a blessing for us sheep farmers.

The cull cow trade is also held up by the ethnic demand, they hoover up all mince(y)
Yes and we can see where the demand is, the gap is forever closing. Processed meat ahead of cuts
