Is it defo a machine mart item you need? I find them to be over priced for a lot of things and quality not as good as some non brands.

i might be thick but theirs no such thing as a vat free voucher? there will still be vat on it you can reclaim if your registered.
It would just be a 20% off the excluded vat price, then plus the vat on the discounted price

Its VAT free if you’re not VAT registered but I think they do a discount for VAT’d businesses too.

sorry but it cant be vat free if they are registered for vat they have to charge it? its just a 20% discount. doesn't really matter if your claiming it back or not its still being paid one way or another?

You're right, it's really just 20% off of the gross price, the equivalent of taking the vat off. You are still paying vat, which is why they say in the small print that if you are vat registered the saving is 16% (or something like that).
Just register your details with them and they will send you the offers when they do them.

Surely the saving is the same whether you're vat registered or not? £120 item on the shelf = £100 net + £20 Vat. 'Vat Free' Promotion reduces that price on the shelf to £100, which is not a 20% saving its a 20/120*100 = 16.7% saving. If you're vat registered your net price has gone from £100 to £83.3 = 16.7% saving.

How ever you look at it, if your not a vat registered business it's a worthwhile discount, particularly if you want to buy something big.

Yes you're right but that's how they put it, still it is a discount and that's what I'm after

My presumption is they are working off the pre vat price. So £100. £100+20% is £120. So therefore if you remove the 20% that was applied to the £100 you are back at £100.

Net sales price is £100
100 - 20% is £16.67 giving you a new net sales amount of £83.33 but they still have to charge the vat on the net sales price so that brings it back to £100.
were as before it was £100 plus vat = £120 to pay
So its not vat free, but it is a 20% saving IF you are not vat registered, if your vat registered you will just get a 16.67% discount.
To the general public a vat free discount of 20% sounds better than 16.67%
