John Deere reducing dealerships

£30k would be list price for a Gator I’m guessing? I think after discount they are circa £20k? Still daft money, you can buy new decent spec pickups for that. At least there are far better value UTVs on the market...!

Why on earth would anybody with a brain look at a jd gator at £20,000. Whats the point even wasting the fuel in the car to go and look. Its massively overpriced. Every make looses money in depreciation as nobody wants a used one. They all have a cab with doors, a heater, a radio, a cvt gearbox of some description. They all carry and tow the same weight and they all travel at 40mph on the road. You buy the cheapest one from the closest dealer so when they go wrong its repaired quickly. UTV's are just glorified quad bikes.

What everyone is forgetting is sharmans had a choice, keep jd but get rid of jcb. They called jd bluff thinking they were too big for jd to lose but they weren’t bluffing so took it away and gave it to other dealers
why would jd have an issue with sharmans selling jcb the products are different if i wanted a fastrac i would buy a fastrac if i wanted a conventional tractor that's what i would buy
the problem with having fewer branches is if a chap falls out with a dealer he will have to change brands i am sure there are plenty of chaps on here that would never darken the steps of one or another dealer.
i for example would never ever buy another sulky product, i only went back to the dealership after the owner had died
being an old git i can remember when every market town had a branch of f h burgess where i lived i could go to any one of four or five within twenty miles each with a showroom with the range of nice shiney tractors,

Think it was more a case of the Loadalls competing against JDs machines. Not sure if Manitou will get the boot from Ben Burgess?

Life is not quite as simple as that. The truth always lies somewhere between both parties views, whoever and whatever the subject

That was a long time ago when FHB rules the waves. The number of farm holdings is reducing therefore the supplying trade follows suit. It’s the way of the world I’m afraid

i understand that the number of holdings has reduced and there are fewer tractors sold i was just reminiscing in those days the massey range went up to a 175 ford was a 500 nuffield 1060 if you wanted four wheel drive you had to go to county, these days 150hp four wheel drive is run of the mill, but i will say this, it felt like your custom was appreciated in those days,
if there was a sniff you wanted a new machine the reps would come to see you these days you would be hard pressed to get one in the yard, three weeks ago i enquired about a new teli handler and was told to look on line the model he mentioned was not on line so i phoned back and told him he said it was a new model so i asked for a broacher and i still haven't received one, it make one wonder if they want the business

The Issue will be the JCB Loadall competing against Kramer which is owned by JD. JD did the same thing to Burdens donkeys years ago, Burdens had to get rid of JCB as JD bought Matbro and made there own loaders.
