Almost inevitable that large orders will get a better price than small ones although different firms have different pricing/discount structures.
There is a concrete plant less than 2 miles away from here yet their prices are completely uncompetitive to me, I can get concrete for up to £20 m3 cheaper from further away yet the local firm are renowned for putting concrete in to the big boys at “the right price “
As with everything, unless you know a firm you can trust it pays to shop around for prices.

We are struggling to get concrete at the moment, all the local bits are closed
Us too and any plastic drainage, had some 900mm twin wall pipe on order, Naylors closed last week won't be available till get it delivered till July most likely now

I found that with Cemex locally for years. Then had a big job so spoke to the local area manager and it turned reasonable.

Water company doing quite a bit of water main renewal here and have had to stop due to lack of concrete.

Supposed to be getting a load on Tuesday, fingers crossed. Availability is more important than price right now.

This was a year or so back:
£84.50 for 225 cube RC40, power float mix.
Previously they've been £10 - £20 a cube dearer than other suppliers for a single 6 cube load. I'd always wondered whether they priced differently for account customers who were likely to come back time and again, compared to Joe Bloggs calling up on a single job and likely never to order concrete again.

IIRC I paid £82 for c35 off Tarmac in the autumn but ordered through our local lime salesman who has an account at the quarry.
About 60 cube in total but bitty jobs , I don’t think we had more than 2 loads on any day. No part load charge for make up loads after a full load, £10 cube part load charge if not having a full load.
Just edited this post, it was Tarmac not Cemex, darn quarry keeps changing hands.

I think this is going to be the problem down the line, businesses servicing essential trades will be allowed to open but will the businesses they buy off be working.
Morgan’s of Oswestry are closed, don’t know about their other branches and there was a notice on Facebook that Nigel Farr has shut as he can’t replace sold stock.
Trouble is when you want a fitting, you need it now because there is a burst and the cows are hollering
Huws Gray here shut. Don’t know about Jewsons but probably closed too
