Going to the pub or restaurant

I see that it will be a requirement to lodge your name, address and telephone number with pubs, restaurants and hotels before you can enter.
I can see a lot of Mickey & Mini Mouses going in the lash.
Also, it is likely that you will have to order your drinks off your mobile and will have a time limit imposed for a meal.

Are you going to bother because I’m not?

We do that here, not a problem. Why would you object and register as Mickey or Minnie Mouse?

Won’t be rushing out, haven’t actually missed pubs and restaurants to be honest.

I haven’t even been in a shop except B&Q or Halfords since Mother’s Day in March. Wife does all food shopping at Asda while I stay with our daughter.

Let the fools rush back, assess things for a month or 2 first :D

You are not giving your name and contact details so you can have a pint, you are doing it so that in the event of a COVID-19 case you can be traced.
Why is that a problem?

Of course that is the reason given but it would be naive to think that your details would be destroyed after two weeks or not be used elsewhere.
Who trusts this or any government?

Just what are the government or anyone else going to gain from knowing you went down to the pub for a couple of shandys?

Your details are precious otherwise there wouldn't be a trade in them for advertising etc.
Personally I have enough sh!t come through on email and text without adding to it.

So I for one will wait until this is no longer a requirement and I suspect others will too

That is of course your choice. I personally have nothing to hide so have no objection to giving details when I go to the pub or out for a meal.
If you use a smart phone, credit card, debit card or drive a car your details and where you have been are readily available.

I think it's a nonsense .... imagine a group of 10 of you going out for a social meal and having to queue up just to right your name and address down . It's going to be difficult enough for the pub industry with out making even more draconian rules ........did all the demonstrators in London Manchester etc all right down their names and address 'Just in case there was an outbreak where they were demonstrating' ...no of course not !
It's time to realise that most of us are sensible and don't need to be treated like little children .

With so many objecting to what is a sensible approach for tracing potential Covid-19 cases I can see Darwins theory of evolution coming into play.

You just don't get it !
I'm not sure if you are genuinely stupid or putting on an act ......millions demonstrated without any contact details ,Hereford town centre is heaving everyday and shops very busy and the same all over Britain ....no-one giving contact details and so forth in many instances......then why suddenly pick on the very industry that needs a serious help in getting trading again .

I do “get it” yes millions? demonstrated, Darwins theory of evolution will work for them to. Shopping in a town centre is relatively low risk. Going out to a pub or for a meal in a social environment is a higher risk, you are in closer proximity to others.
What you really need is a world beating app.

I won’t be bothering. Frankly I used to find some of the company barely tolerable at the best of times. Now add in the risk of contracting Covid and it just ain’t worth it. I am in contact with the folks I used to meet there on social media anyway or see them through my work.
I won’t miss it or the extortionate prices.

Surely the whole point of a pub (& to a lesser extent, restaurant) is to socialise. If you have to go through the bother of registering, ordering your drinks by phone app, be served by staff in PPE, not allowed to get closer than 1m (at best), have to drink outside in the "beer garden" - in rainy Britain .... then there really is no point.
Might as well get the cans in, talk to the wife and shout at the tele

Can't really see what the problem is. Pre-Covid if we phoned up to book a meal, even order a takeaway to pick up, we had to give a phone number for most pubs or restaurants. On one occasion it enabled them to phone us a few days later to tell us sadly they had a kitchen fire and would have to close for a couple of weeks so would have to cancel our booking. Larger chains such Wetherspoons have had an 'order from your table' app for a few years. Pubs round here have been putting up big marquees - they aren't being used for weddings and shows this year so there are plenty about to hire. or they've been roofing over an existing patio to make a veranda area, bit like a car port. The council have relaxed the planning permission requirement for marquees being there for more than 28 days and they can leave them up at least until October - with a probability of extension, depending on what the rules are then.

No, you would give details when booking, most places won't let a group just turn up in cas they are full, they wouldn't wanting you standing round in the bar waiting for a table. Wouldn't you want to be told if the staff member that served you had tested positive s couple of days later?

The sector has been issued with GUIDANCE, it's not law. What they DO need to do is risk assess, but it's up to each business to do what they think is best for their staff and customers. Most will make use of many of the elements of guidance issued. Don't forget this is the food and drink sector, they already have to do their HACCP protocols to reduce risk of food poisoning etc so it's just an add-on to that. If some people don't want to go out, no one is forcing them. Personally, once I am out of shielding then I will be supporting our country pubs, some of them have been absolute community hubs during this crisis, giving away free food to the vulnerable, setting up safe takeaway systems etc. I would feel comfortable sitting in a beer garden with a waitress/waiter service - that's no different fro how they ran their pubs pre-Covid anyway, the only difference will be I'll probably have to book even on a weekday. The smaller pubs probably won't use an app, they will just ask you if you want another drink - it's what they do anyway. If I don't like the way they are doing it. I'll go elsewhere, but I really want to continue support these businesses especially in rural areas.

The only place I go for a pint is our micro pub, sooner they re-open the better, and can't see them doing any of this nonsense.
My response to all of these various infringements over the last 3 months has been the same: You want me to act in a certain way, fine, I will do it, just as soon as you make the numpties going to Tesco do the same, until then you can shove it.

I haven't been in to any shops but judging by comments from others who have, our Tescos is about the best managed for Covid of all the local supermarkets.
