Even us advocates accept that there is no one right way for everyone. And trying to force no till on everyone, when clearly it doesn’t work for every farm or situation .

Exactly, changing one mono crop for another is not the answer, we need more mixed farming...and if hundreds of thousands of acres are put down to this.....where's the diversity in that?! Acres and acres of scrubland taken over by weeds, brambles, gorse etc. A habitat for some, but not for others.
All habitats matter.
Absolutely, and support for existing woodland too.Are farms that have always had many environmental features such as miles of hedges, woodlands and small field sizes going to see as much......if not more.... support than those that ripped out their hedges and farmed out environmental features will get paid to reinstate it?
yes it is - there is a lot planned for the future
i think it’s great they are keen to engage directly with farmers in this way
let’s keep this thread on topic though please with those potential questions you want asking
Very useful thread to assist in answering the DEFRA questionaire that they are wanting response to.
I'll be interested in David Kennedy's responses, as they will shape some of my own responses!!
How did the interview go @Clive ?
The interview is happening tomorrow - questions all set now. Should be interesting !
Have you uploaded the interview Video please? If so, I missed it somehow!
If you need any more of a heads up as to who will be receiving the limited funds available you can see them on the list above.
Forget it. These organisations already have their noses well into the trough.
The bigger they are the harder they shove their way in, regardless of how they try and appear
Hmm, just watched the David Kennedy interview. He says very little at the end of the day, and the only sign I could see about support for farming was his prpomise that the funds currently being spent on Tier 1 would be dished up for ELMS during the life of this parliament. It was vaguely reassuring overall, but I hope that, as he suggested, lessons have been learnt about the Byzantine complexities that put everyone off the current environmental schemes, so that the vast majority of farmers can get on board come 2024.
They will have legions of ecology degree holders talking the talk for them and MP's/government quangos will be loving it. Throw in a few sentences with appropriate buzzwords and they will be drooling at the mouth. 'Enhanced public goods provided by increased ecological awareness and sympathetic management of habitat', all of which is lingo for 'doing fudge all and pocketing the cash'.
If all 85k of us became advisors we could all advise each other and create a union?? Or is that just a step to far in 2021??? HahaAnd with a proposed 70,000 'advisors' this is going to be a significant proportion of the pot! Even more significant is the fact that there are only 85,000 potential claimants!
