A lot of truth in what you say , as the old saying says “farmers are sometimes their own worst enemies”, but would never admit to it.Everyone blames greedy landlords & agents
How about plonkers who are greedy for land & can't use a calculator.
If you want to farm on rented land, you have to throwthe calculator away and bid way over the topEveryone blames greedy landlords & agents

Depends whether one is an “ego trip farmer” , a “busy fool farmer” or business farmer that wants to make a profit, sadly some of us have gone down the route of all three, exist, only to move on to the next scenario.Around here you barely get winter grazing never mind a decent bit of ground for a reasonable period. Most farmers I've come across would slice their own throats to get ground like its the be all and end all just to make £50-100/acre. Easier ways to.make money.

You are over a barrel if say 50 acres of land in the middle of yours comes up for rent. Do you pay over the odds or accept a few km of boundary with a goat farmer with no money & poor fencing skills.

No farmer with any sense is going to pay over £200/acre surely?
