2250 acres of arable pasture to rent in Kent

If you want to farm on rented land, you have to throwthe calculator away and bid way over the top
Otherwise you wont be farming

Or do something else.

Sometimes of course if you have a good business, making a loss on taking an extra 10% area on can make sense if it prevents you having a bad neighbour or through economies of scale.

You are over a barrel if say 50 acres of land in the middle of yours comes up for rent. Do you pay over the odds or accept a few km of boundary with a goat farmer with no money & poor fencing skills.

Around here you barely get winter grazing never mind a decent bit of ground for a reasonable period. Most farmers I've come across would slice their own throats to get ground like its the be all and end all just to make £50-100/acre. Easier ways to.make money.

Depends whether one is an “ego trip farmer” , a “busy fool farmer” or business farmer that wants to make a profit, sadly some of us have gone down the route of all three, exist, only to move on to the next scenario.

Boundary fences are a joint responsibility between you and the neighbouring landowner.
Your mythical tenant goat farmer is not responsible for other peoples fences

In England you are responsible to keep your stock in that is the law.

I keep mine in & my farming neighbours are good.

The problem is with horse charties & part time hobbiests, I have at times had a mile of boundary with such people & it can be hell.

Anyway the cheapest way is to buy or rent neighbouring land, even if paying over the odds.

In England, the grazier is responsible for keeping their stock in, not you keeping them out. Different law to Scotland.
I know that, after out cattle destroyed a garden without a gate.
Most boundary fences are the responsibility of the landlord in scotland, so how does it work when english stock get out from tenanted land
