Back on prices , clearing out some culls to sedge friday , ch ewes came back about £98 , zw £70 , 2 cull hoggs 1 ch £96 (pasturella) 1 zw £68 (she had ji as a lamb ) but was quite disappointed in the 8 zw store ram lambs straight off mum @£55 ! they were all between 35 - 45kg and not poor though not finished thought they were worth 5-10 more on present trade.

Were the Charolais ewes all meat or plain?

The first person I saw wearing a mask anywhere was one of the sheep buyers in Exeter at the very beginning of lockdown. People have been wearing masks there on Mondays every week I’ve been there.
I've dropped calves off on a friday half a dozen times and seen someone with a mask on all bar one of those times.

They are mucking things up by selling on a Fri afternoon...the smaller buyers are not bothering to attend if they do this all season they will lose a lot of lambs to Exeter. Lots sell a few stores..cattle ..and buy a few store lambs...whats the point

Bored of hearing about bloody face masks!!! At the end of the day we will be given the instructions as to what we've got to do by people with with more powers than us. So we'll just have to get on with it, regardless of our own views!!
I follow this thread for updates on prices and useful info connected to it.
Please GUTH can you stop going off topic and ranting about political issues etc all the time.... Its bloody boring, and although you might like to think you're an expert, you probably don't know any more about it all than the rest of us.

I didn't bring up the subject of face masks on this thread!

Secondly instead of coming on here ranting at someone that posts a lot of livestock prices why don't YOU Devonian contribute to the thread with livestock prices etc? as I cannot recall seeing many if any posts about livestock prices from yourself................

If you ask them they say the Friday afternoon sheep sales are going from strength to strength at Sedge and no need to change them back to Saturdays.

But you are right, no end of smaller buyers take up a few store cattle etc then buy lambs or vice versa take up some store lambs and buy calves etc.

The sheep sales need to get back to Saturday asap.

Anyone know yet what the different prices for kepak, Bodmin will be for this week before I ring tomorrow, I usually get a price somewhere in the middle. thanks.( clean)

Maybe you did start it, maybe you didn't, I couldn't care less. All I know is its you that keeps trying to bang across your point of view on the matter and arguing against everyone that's doesn't think the same. Just like it has been on some other off topics on this thread recently!! I only come on here once a day or so to see various prices of cattle mainly, instead I spend the first 10 mins trawling through endless posts on craps like this.

Funny, I thought you'd come back with a comment about me not posting anything myself. You did it to someone else recently who tried challenging you on the subject.
I don't post much as I don't go to market very often so haven't got anything to report. Likewise I don't pretend to know the ins and outs of the meat trade so dont want to spout stuff that potentially is not correct. We don't all have to come on this forum to post stuff all the time. Some of us are just happy to learn things from others in the know.

Also we dont all like the sound of our own voice!!!!

You obviously frequent markets a lot, and it's mostly good to hear your weekly prices, but as for the rest of it, it's just your own contraversial opinions. They aren't factual, they aren't relevant and they aren't even really that interesting!!!

If you want to preach like some sort of know it all beef and lamb/political/health/general life expert then how about you start your own thread.

By the way, sending cattle to ABP Langport tomorrow, base price of £3.60.

There.... posted something now, not that anyone will give a sh!t!!

Actually so many factors influence price it would be impossible to have a “pure“ thread of nothing but prices, “why” is one paying more than another is bound to crop up, why are more buyers going to x than z etc. So as dull as it is I’m afraid market and face masks has a place, what doesn’t have a place in this thread is political opinions. Anyway hoggs will be £200 next year- just to stay on thread...
