Seems it's universal that outbreaks are occuring around bars and pubs throughout europe , hardly essential or big employers are they .

UK pub trade employs 1 million. If they hadn't re-open, then talk was up to 40% would of shut for good by September. So that would make 400,000 unemployed in UK alone before every other sector let's people go.

Lot by passing rules allegedly to suit?
Like outdoors marquees but undercover and not in actual licenceable premises areas, and new launched voucher scheme to offer discounts to eat inside Only ?
In press articles about obesity worst for covid but Government reduced vat and these vouchers to encourage people back to the hospitality trades ?
Contridicting all ???

The more you test the more cases you will find, its as simple as that, a lot of people have this virus yet show no effects of it!

If you keep having lockdowns all you are doing is kicking the problem down the road and all you will end up doing is totally destroying the economy and millions and millions of jobs!

We just have to live with it.

The daily death rate has been lower than the 5 year average for weeks now!....

I agree , it's about calculated risk , so why open pubs when 40% of the population are still off work ?

Most of that 40% of the population that are off work wont have jobs to return to come 1st November when the Furlough scheme ends so if you wait for them to be able to go back to work the pubs will never re-open!

A sh!t show is coming down the road that you can have no doubt about!

Daughter is doing the nhs antibody testing for health and key workers currently less than 5% coming back positive .
Although we are in a rural county it’s maybe not affected as many people as some people think.
Although I’m sure this figure may be higher in the cities .
Quite nice been a rural isolated sh1t kicker sometimes👍

Having ran a pub in a rural community in the past (closed it in 2005) it was a dying trade then and with the smoking ban it’s only gone down hill since !. I wouldn’t even bother now as the trades just not there to make a decent living !.

My OH got the antibody test and it came back bevy
Her colleagues came back positive-but have no recollection of ever being ill in the last 16 weeks
Maybe the test ain’t reliable

Or maybe some or all of her colleagues had mild symptoms or were asymptomatic. Or as you allude the test is not reliable - which we know is the case and hence the quarantining as then that removes any risk. All in all bit of a muddle! An understatement!

TBH people like The Whetherspoons bloke seem to have an undue influence over this decision. Also seems to be our PM’s pet project “every Englishman has an inalienable right to his pint” etc. Very strange focus IMO, but we live in strange times!!

The blood sample anti body test is pretty accurate, it is the swab test which can have deficiencies as it can only show what it finds..
according to to WHO figures on testing of people who have been close to likely sufferers, I believe these were air travellers. The chance of finding the virus on Day 1 was zero rising to 5% day 2, 20 % day 3 , 60% day 4 , rising to 100% on day 6 of those who have caught the disease.
So airport testing will only confirm there were sufferers on the plane, it will give no idea at all if others have caught it.
it is unlikely to be worth testing before day 5 , but by day 3 it is likely that people will be infective, certainly if they are in intimate contact
