Quarantine and idiots

It all very well criticising people going on holiday while having a farm and open countryside to look at and wander around in, try living in a tower block with no outside space except perhaps a crowded park, no wonder they want to get away and while they could do that in the uk quite often it's far more expensive than spain.

In another day my wife and I will have been in quarantine for 20 weeks. She has not been more than 10 yards from the house in that time and never seen another human being except me. Way back in the 1978/79 winter she had 3 months of the same due to snow. I have seen, at a distance, people delivering our grocery orders. I have also done a bit of work around our small farm. We could take another 20 months of this with no problem. I do admit that we have never holidayed - never seen the need for it. We have had the odd few days between moving countries and a couple of visits back to the UK from Australia and here, but otherwise as @Danllan says, there is no need for a holiday, just a want.

I’m really feeling a need to get away from the heat 🤷‍♂️ ☀☀☀

How hot has it been. Real temperatures please, not guesswork. My "proper" thermometer in a shaded position has recorded 35.9 twice this year, otherwise always below 35. That is not hot, just a tad too warm. 45 is hot. Ask Farmer Roy.

That was my first thought too, but it's the UK we're talking about not Syria (although some parts might be getting closer these days) Its not really that terrible and holidays within the UK are available, I could understand it more if you were in the middle of winter and needed some sun - insert UK summer jokes here - but it cant be that bad at the moment.

Best just to write 2020 off in my opinion and stay put.

I'm not planning on leaving here for a year or two.

2 polish workers at a place I 1work come straight of the plane and mingling with farm staff and sharing machines. Boils my blood, said f off keep 6m from me.
Would have thought your employers should have taken more care about that, very irritating.
Mind you, just as likely to have a problem with a local home grown colleague if they've been mixing in a pub?

I'm not an employee but was warned, but they were mixing with the full-timers. If 1 gets it does the farm essentially get shut down? I'd be a bit more careful...
