Just what i thought.Looks a good bit of dirt there.The strange thing is you have got lots of big stones yet overall the field does not look stony. You must be mining them.

DDGlacial boulder clay subsoil. They just bubble up every year. You could plough that field and gather stones for 20 years and you would still get more. Most of Scotland is like it.
