Yayyy!!! Top 3 for outcomes.....
Some of the waiting lists for procedures also seem to be incredibly short - less than a fortnight from referral to my Echo appointment (thanks to In Health) and also less than 6 weeks from referral for endoscopy. Was bumped once for an emergency but only by 4 days. 8.30 on a Sunday morning with a semi-retired consultant so obviously pulling all the stops out! (Haven't dared ask about waits for lung function tests though...).

Ball park... 8-12 a week, most of whom are treated on low dependency wards with routine oxygen.

Hi JC thank you for your posts. Always interesting and informative. If on a low dependency ward is that Covid specific to quarantine the folk from others? And are visitors banned? Just wondering how the hospital is handling these CV cases. Oh and any comment on the age group of these 8-12 folk?

Cheers,

Yep, we have "Covid Only" wards on 2 of the 3 sites.
Still no visitors and restrictions on who can accompany patients.
All most all of the admissions have some sort of co-morbidity. Diabetes, COPD, Heart/Lung issues and, almost by default, most are 50+ or older.

Numbers again.....................
9724 people in Leicestershire have tested positive - up from 9642 (increase 82).
5919 (increase of 34) are within the City
.3805 (increase of 48) in the County.

The broader numbers are not looking good and being driven by a number of factors, folk socialising, kids going back to school & parents not being sensible and people taking their eye off the ball like it is "over".
Some of the advisors are even talking about a wider return to lock-down as well as harder local responses such as in Bolton.

Stay distant, wear a mask, wash your hands. Easy really.

I was out @Princess Pooper`s way earlier, you may know the petrol station?

Popped into a local petrol station which is also an M&S mini-store.
Put mask on, got card out to pay and turned left on entering as guided by the arrows.
A simple one way system was in place in the store up one narrow corridor, down the other.
The "narrow entry corridor" is also where you have to queue to pay so you stand there 2 metres from the person in front and get buffeted and nudged by f**kwits with no mask on trying to get past to get their shopping, and then the maskless elderly lady paying for her paper turns around walks directly towards me against the "flow" puts her hand on my shoulder and says "Excuse me love"........ there is no feckin hope.

9952 people in Leicestershire have tested positive - up from 9847 (increase 105).
6043 (increase of 53) are within the Leicester City Council area.
3909 (increase of 52) cases were reported in the County.

Hospital admissions..... 15 this week.

No further deaths reported.

The number of cases is getting many folk very jittery. If it starts doubling in a week to ten days we will soon be back at the peaks of mid-April to mid May. And with that will be lots of hospitalised patients and an increase in deaths.

The French have now cut the quarantine period from 14 days to 7 as they were seeing a poor compliance with 14 days. They have also increased testing to over a million per week but the numbers of positives are increasing with nearly 10,000 per day atm. :scratchhead:

This virus is getting very hard to manage. Rising even in most sparsely populated parts of western Ireland. These places should be easy to control, and had practically no cases in spring / summer.
There’s a lot of Covid out there now I fear. Let’s hope it just keeps it’s relatively mild form as it has now, with very very low hospitalisation levels.

It's not a mild form. Similar strains.

The appearance of 'mildness' comes the age groups affected, and the level of general loading on immune systems is currently lower than might be the case in autumn/winter.

That's changing fast though. I'm in the middle of my first head cold right now.
