We've just been forced into a tractor purchase after 1 burned out, after demoing a few and pricing up like for like there really isn't a lot in it between the main brands, certainly not as much as there used to be, it comes down to the dealer as they will ALL break down sometime, in the end it was very close between valtra and fendt and the driver preferred the fendt and now drives a 724, time will tell if it was the correct decision

I agree with you. But for a salesman to say what he did.......

Yeah I thought that, it would make sense to have a dealer further west. No nh dealer in Stranraer? Alstons had a depot there many years ago? I suppose your meant to go Lloyds or Agricar....

Had this letter this morning too. Hadn't thought about it that way but as @farmerdan7618 says Kubota are certainly gaining ground what with JJ Farm Services and Pallisers both being Kubota in recent years too.

Nice to have a dealership actually being created rather than just switching brands. That leaves 2 AGCO dealers locally (RFM and Chandlers) and two Kubota dealers too. I'm guessing Lister Wilder will slim down their dealerships for Kubota but might be wrong.

It's very interesting that Lister Wilder state that agriculture has been a smaller part of their turnover (profit too possibly!) than Construction/Groundcare given 25 years ago these sectors would have been almost insignificant I would think.

I was reading that this morning, what do they mean in the last paragraph? it sounds as if you will still be dealing with your normal depots but chandles will be using them as well? I think they will massivley regret diching AGCO. The amount of people locally who have moved to Fendt and Valtra is massive.

Everything stays the same in terms of staff etc. other than the name changes. But somehow the Kubota side will still operated out of there as things are now, but over the next 2-3 years someone (not sure which staff aren't moving over) will be building new Kubota dealerships, and they will then be moving out to those.

So I guess all that changes is some engineers/sales reps become 100% Kubota and work on nothing else so they can push that brand fully. Saves having the conflict of one salesman going to farm and having to sell MF/Valtra/Fendt/Kubota. Clearly some brands will lose out as a result due to that conflict.

Not surprised construction side better than the ag , for ten years now the ag salesmen at Wallingford we’re and still are fooking useless at selling , spent 50k on new kit this time , Wilders first port of call and all three machines were never quoted on bar one but never came back with spec , several mates had the same issue , seems if you not buying 150k machine they are not bothered , chandlers will hopefully cull out the shite , mr salted nutty Being the first to go would be a good start.

The sales team at Wallingford has gone downhill a lot since Stuart Banks left. They haven’t actually got a general salesman anymore just brand specialists.
