The only thing the type 31 Lidl class will be any use for, is probably chasing French fishing boats in the event of a no deal.H & W in Belfast is part of Babcock contract working on the Type 31e vessels I understand.
And rightly so Rutland Water is a large area of generally unprotected coastline. No doubt Macron is claiming the fishing rights.Aircraft carrier being built in Rutland under leadership of Chris Grayling
Most of the extra money will be wasted.
I say that as someone whose day job is in the defence industry...
The Type 23 were apparently nicknamed "Skoda" class turned out all right.
So we need a change in mindset just as reverting to MAFF from DEFRA would give farming a boost reverting to the War Office from the Ministry of Defence would give the armed forces a boost no General would be allowed any new tanks or missiles until he had used up what he already had thus reducing waste. It's all wasted money anyway, let's face it. All the money ever spent on defence is spent on things that rust, get worn out and then scrapped or used and then recycled. It doesn't ever produce anything.
or perhaps they would just use our own tanks for target practice to use them upSo we need a change in mindset just as reverting to MAFF from DEFRA would give farming a boost reverting to the War Office from the Ministry of Defence would give the armed forces a boost no General would be allowed any new tanks or missiles until he had used up what he already had thus reducing waste.
Yep navy undermanned and army 80,000ish while similar power for comparison purposes, the French Army is 120,000 strong.Don't know why, they are currently in a upgrade program to extend their lives until the type 26's are all built, but as I said earlier, the RN's major problem is a lack of personnel.

Yep, isn't the Paris Fire Brigade a military unit? It's actually nearly double that as many people don't realise that the Gendarmerie is in fact part of the military.
If you say, I don't know. Most French Fire-fighters are retained, I think there are only about 40,000 full time ones like Paris. It's always felt a bit odd here to be standing in the supermarket carpark, to suddenly have half a dozen Gendarmerie armoured cars arrive and the crews all jump out and go shopping.Y

I certainly never heard of the UK police needing armoured cars except perhaps in Ulster. If you say, I don't know. The RUC in the late 1960s early 1970s the had the armoury and equipment to make a third world army jealous.I certainly never heard of the UK police needing armoured cars except perhaps in Ulster.
