how do you work it out ? and what is considered high ?
Think above 25 you are supposed overweight.
Above 30 obese I think.
There are online calculators.
Is pretty crude as just involves height and weight.
Can be very muscled and no fat and come out as obese.
Waist size considered a more accurate measure by some

Aaggh, the dreaded BMI calculator - just cannot resist these sort of things, though I know the results as have done the party trick before!! OK, OK, you are desperate to know my score on the door, well if you must know a gentle 27.1. The result of to many Chips and insatiable appetite for chocolate. I hang my head in shame and walk off - Covid beckons.

From memory, Steve Redgrave was clinically obese when he won his 6th Olympic medal, so it’s not an exact science.

I’m low 30s, but 34” waist and until recently could do a sub 2hr half marathon.
A simpler obesity gauge is the string test. Take a piece of string the length of your height, fold it in half and if the ends meet round your waist or there's some overlap, you're okay. You have to measure round your proper waist though (or where it should be), not under sticky-out belly padding. This test is particularly useful because it leaves out big muscle groups but is an indicator of levels of visceral fat which has bad implications for inflammatory metabolic disorders that kill Virus victims.

The BMI index was originally developed for Anaesthetists to calculate the correct volume of anaesthetic required, nothing to do with your health, fitness etc. :)

Just so we're clear, where exactly are we calling 'the waist'....

According to BMI, I've been 'obese' for most of my adult life, even when I had a 32" waist (which was admittedly a while ago). Mrs NeilO was obese when I met her too, despite being as fit as a butcher's dog from riding horses for a living, and with more of a 6 pack than I could ever have (that was a while ago too🤫).
