I agree with you, the earlier you can get some fert on the grazing ground for sheep grazing the better but down here few grass farmers venture out with the Fert spinner untill April!
Even the arable boys don't put much on untill the end of March!

We like it on before we start lambing if conditions are right, every year is different but if we can get on then we wouldn’t be waiting till April,

No two years are ever the same weather wise.
Like now, its so damn mild down here that it feels more like a summers day than the winter!

20 tail end mules £69.50 the sort of lambs that I wouldn’t dare put on the wagon when the rest went in august privately. They had grown away canny just ran round on grass.
Start grass and early dose on wheat end of Feb/mid March often.....depends on forecast and ground conditions.
Been know to spread on a frost.

They are the dearest. Had some mainly tex x lambs 20? Kilo av £63.50 last week

One of our best years yield wise was when someone upstream went early with fert, it then flooded a couple of weeks later and all ended up on our land

Not always the case, i know of time's when the artic has gone far North from here with cattle and when the lorry is say 20/30 mins from the plant the factory has called the agent and cancelled the load.... ( or rather tried to! )

They kill out very well. Better than a mule or Suffolk. Better types have higher spec
