That’s 6.20 NZD. Work that out at 1.90 to the £
Where are these farmers going pop?Similar margin to farming then...plenty of farmers going pop as well
I know a few, 2 over 300 cows but mainly sub 100Where are these farmers going pop?
I don't think its all down to the ports although it isn't helping give the job 3 weeks to a month and it'll be on the rise big timePrices are dropping a bit for next week but sounds very much like that is due to the problems at the ports ref paperwork, assuming those in power see sense and get things moving again sooner rather than later there is no reason why lamb prices wont suddenly bounce back and possible even go stronger than they currently are!
Thought about taking some but didn't have time.Anybody go Sedge tonight...personally not going near the place until they see sence and sell them through a ring
Dairy?I know a few, 2 over 300 cows but mainly sub 100
Had £102 in Hexham today. They would be 35-38s.Thought about taking some but didn't have time.
You wanna pay me £90 for 35s?
I feel like this when I’m buying store lambs for more than I budgeted! The drop in price is likely just an attempt by the processors to pull prices back to where they want them to be
They will have put their heads together to do this
It is a dangerous time for them to leave prices where they are without intervening at this time of year as numbers tighten and prospect of numbers being tighter than normal
They know there’s only a set number of sheep and it annoys them to be paying more than they see necessary
We will see what happens but if my theory is correct it will lift sharply when it does within a few weeks
Wonder if I can do that with the tax bills?I feel like this when I’m buying store lambs for more than I budgeted!

Yeah, in the last 2-3 years but mainly sub 100’s going out as all infrastructure/parlour needs replacing etc plus all machineryDairy?
Who were they banking with,Barclays?I know a few, 2 over 300 cows but mainly sub 100
So my £90 for 35s at home be about right thenHad £102 in Hexham today. They would be 35-38s.
Not a clue sorry.Who were they banking with,Barclays?
I doubt itSame at Carlisle breeding sale in December
You might be able to squeeze a bit more if they are tight skins. So my £90 for 35s at home be about right then
Difference is I was there. Were you?I doubt it
They are a fine but are never going to kill out as well. A Cotswold or Hebridean in market as never going to make anywhere as much ppkg as a beltex, Texel or Charolais, therefore if a third of the market is made up of rare breeds the sqq is hammered, so they drop the dead weight price. What’s wrong with Rare Breeds, if they are finished properly they are just as good as anything else if not better even
We’ve come a long way in 28 years haven’t we...There’s a mart report stating that we were selling hoggs for £100 in 1992 that’s bloody ages ago
