Why should I stay..............

Hardy new . Labour would be a total disaster they always are .
That's my point, it isn't a Scottish issue, it is a political/politician issue. So there is not necessarily anything to be gained by leaving a country due to its current government when you could very easily have a similar-minded set of bampots running your new country.

The Scots do not hate the English, other than the certain types that most English people probably hate too.

If you walked into a pub in Scotland with England playing Germany at sport or England v anyone for that matter them not hating English would be hard to believe , if it was Nigeria it would be called racism .

I think you are well aware that there is a huge difference between the tribalism of a sporting event and "normal" daily life.

The friendly banter of the anyone but England sporting event can be overtaken, I agree, and indeed recall being at Hampden when we played England in some Euro qualifiers in the 90's when a large portion of the Scottish crowd around me spent most of the match facing the England end singing about Mr Beckham's wife's sexual preferences and weren't even watching the game. I found it hugely embarrassing, but unfortunately drink and football seems to bring out the worst in a proportion of many nations' fans.

Help me out please. Particularly those native Scots.

I have spent half my life north of the border, but was born in the south. 20 plus years here. I am now after that time able to consider buying a small chunk for ourselves. However........ When I came north my lineage was not of much concern but now as I sit looking at the outbursts from the SNP, (Scotland is not England etc.) I find myself questioning why I should stay when clearly a large percentage of the country resent the English. I raised my family and paid my taxes but I am in danger of becoming hostile toward the country that has been my home for so long. I haven't changed and I know there are many great people here and I have many friends here, but I feel that we are resented by so many Scots that perhaps it is time to get out. That it is driven by the SNP matters not, it is gaining traction.

Why should I stay?

name one nationality that likes it's larger senior partner. Just have to accept the love hate relationship. When the going gets tough we really love each other. (Apart from football of course)

To be honest I don't think much of its worth getting too hung up on, we're all going to have to get up and do a day's work no matter what happens.

As for where people are welcome and at home, I know a family in NI and they moved to a house near where I'm from about 25 years ago, and people to this day say "they're not from around here" when the fact is they moved from a town about 10 miles away.

The mind is narrow if there's never been a will to broaden it.

I was brought up in NI during the troubles, and one of my best mates who's a good bit older than me said, appreciate a good person regardless of their creed or colour, because plenty of your own will never do you any good.

If you go to a hospital in need of medical attention or have a sick child, you're damned glad to see a doctor and don't care what creed, class or colour they are!

Same applies throughout life.
