I wouldn’t have a go at people who don’t put up food. A lot of ageing or single elderly types and that day has passed, it’s nobody’s fault, times change.
Have a friend ,who.s wife used to do all small baling ,and had the first at an un conveinient time as she put it , should of got bulling dates right intold her shenjust winked ,There are still farmers' wives; and there are also wives of farmers, whose main role seems to be to ride around in an Evoke with sunglasses on top their heads.
Why does it have to be the wife cooking. Can’t you do itHave a friend ,who.s wife used to do all small baling ,and had the first at an un conveinient time as she put it , should of got bulling dates right intold her shenjust winked ,

different genaration though ,sadly all the fun has gone out of the job ,or was it drudgery ,back then
We have one farm that feeds us if working after 5pm, two or 3 more give you a beer or an icecream, if we are working very late we get a take away delivered out which I pay for for the ladsWho still feeds staff
And more so if working late in harvest , and not stodgy old fish chips or take away , shite
I mean fed proper cooked food like meat and veg or home made pie mash veg etc , and some pudding,
If after 7 pm get supper brought ,

But if he rang and said can we go and it’s a late shift they wouldNeighbour used to bring a chippy tea to the silaging gang. One year the weather was catchy and they always seemed to end up going out for a few hours late in the day.
He had a good lot of silage to make and he said it cost him £2/ac in chips that year!!
