Way back in the late 40s we roasted chestnuts on an open fire, or in the fireside oven. Other nuts we cracked on the tiles with a flat iron (never even saw a nutcracker) and as for celery, we only ever saw it eaten in the movies and even then didn't have a clue as to what it was.
I got fed up with nut crackers breaking. Water pump pliers are the best !

Does anyone still eat ‘After 8’s.‘ Always a special treat at our house, brought by guests.

Do I! I pretend to be librarian :) I am an expert on After 8 pricing!! Usually retail for £3 packet. But in the run up to Xmas reduce to £2 packet. But I struck lucky this year and the newsagents in Navenby had them at 3 packets for £5. I bought £20 worth. very few left afraid - sore tummy.

So which one on that discontinued list is it ?
Found the below which just describes a 'quality street toffee'. Looks like it is from the first tin ever made, i'm not that feckin old, it must be in that list but none of the descriptions fit.

Don't know, I always went for the Toffee Penny or the Purple Hazel nut in chocolate.
