More likely to cause problems by doing that as the calf isn't going to grow much more but it could mean the heifer doesn't open up correctly, tb really is sh!tInduce ?
Totally agree. Not sure what the rules are on welfare. Or what removal times are either.More likely to cause problems by doing that as the calf isn't going to grow much more but it could mean the heifer doesn't open up correctly, tb really is sh!t
When we did ours, had to wait 1 week after calving before the cows could be removed, welfare is the same as any other cow, cow comes first. I felt like worming them all so they couldn't enter the food chain due to withdrawal just to give 2 fingers to the arseholes who create the rules.Totally agree. You can do emergency slaughter as well and still get the tb compensation which is something to bare in mind @Sid if something goes wrong at calving - really sorry fir your test, tb is sh!t.
They really are a bunch of f*cking pricksI asked if I could open the cow after she was shot on farm due to being heavily pregnant and remove calf rather than watch it suffocating
Was categorically told I would not be paid for that cow.
This cow stayed on farm longer than the ones that went to slaughterhouse. But I was refused permission to wait until calf was born because it was further than 28 days from calving IIRC. Ended up being a week off calving
Think so. Maybe just on phone though due to COVID. We were meant to have one after the second test but they’ve not been but did have to have an hour long phone call telling me my wrongs.Quick question regarding tb, I've got to have my test fairly soon, if I go down do I still have to have the bloody woman from apha come around and tell me it's my fault we've gone with tb? Or have they scrapped that sh!t?

How long between read and collectHad TB reactor collected here this morning, driver said busy as ever, 60 days will soon fly by to start bloody testing again!

The last one told me I should have planned for this to happen, I responded it's nearly impossible to plan for it, she flew off the handle and told me I'm being an idiot basically. Happened to have a heifer bulling that day, I turned to her and said so 1001 is bulling today she's from one of my best cows, do I ai her or not bother because she's going to go down with tb at the next test, after all I need to plan?Farm report.
I did mine via teams.
Can be useful as long as the person doing it isn't condescending.
I was curt with one a few years who accused me of being high risk because I bought in pre tb test. I told them I wouldn't have had to if they didn't take false positives with gamma and put restrictions on purchases after a breakdown.
She backed down then
