It's a shame they had to be forced to do it
Up to the point the invasion began perhaps, after they have shown themselves in a very poor light and have the italiansThey had their own considerations for their decision making the same as anyone else. It is a bit lame that they only offered helmets and body armour initially but maybe they thought they would be more successful diplomatically if they didn't show their hand first.

And according to Tarzan we were the ones the EU needed to make sure things were done correctlyThe Germans don't seem to be able to make decisions very rapidly or decisively in general. I presume this is a by product of their political system, wasn't it a coalition for years or something?
It's the same reason the EU can't ever make a decision- too many interests to balance.

Lot of sense in that. Thats where we should be!And according to Tarzan we were the ones the EU needed to make sure things were done correctly
Its because of their shameful past that they are still acutely aware of. They just dont want to get involved in any other wars, unless they are almost forced into it.The Germans don't seem to be able to make decisions very rapidly or decisively in general. So what you are saying without us the eu cant make the right decisionsLot of sense in that. Thats where we should be!
Surely after WW2 they would want to help stop a potential repeat as fast as possible, and their refusal to agree to stronger sanctions earlier was done purely for their own selfish reasons, sanctions dont involve fightingIts because of their shameful past that they are still acutely aware of. In situations like this, they would have been far better off and effective with us in it.So what you are saying without us the eu cant make the right decisions
Its their gas and energy policy that has and is tying their hands behind their backs. You would have to ask Merkel and others why they let it happen.....................possibly to do with their Greens ? I had a German girlfriend for most of the 1980s and was there alot,so can only speak from my limited experience there.Surely after WW2 they would want to help stop a potential repeat as fast as possible, and their refusal to agree to stronger sanctions earlier was done purely for their own selfish reasons, sanctions dont involve fighting
Closed a lot of their nuclear due to public/political backlash over the situation with the Japanese nuclear plant and the earthquake. Its their gas and energy policy that has and is tying their hands behind their backs. You would have to ask Merkel and others why they let it happen.....................possibly to do with their Greens ? Merkel was meant to be a strong leader, looks less strong as time goes byClosed a lot of their nuclear due to public/political backlash over the situation with the Japanese nuclear plant and the earthquake.
Certainly sounds a good idea, the only issue I have is what security issues there are if anyWith hindsight we should have forged ahead with our own nuclear power station building programme. Maybe still time. I quite like Rolls Royce mini reactors. Quick and cheap to build. A bit of British innovation. Bring it on.
