I'd rather be sold "reasonably" well and able to wish for an end to Putin and the war, than need to hope that it continues or escalates to drive the price higher.
If there is a settlement futures are likely to drop £50 just like that.
I agree would be beneficial to everyone to see a peaceful resolution to the war in the Ukrainian. Our canola prices are more based on supply and demand. Before the war started we were close to 25 bucks a bushel and that was Christmas time. I don’t think much is attributed to the war. Forward prices are such that crushers will need to buy acres from other crops to supply their needs and with the cost of N it’s pushing farmers away from it.

Not that different to last Friday though... its all leveled out.
Less volatility in the futures trade by the looks of it. Although down here last week I was offered £275/t, a fair bit less than futures and this week £293/t so perhaps physical grain are coming into line with virtual grain?

Will the British consumer be able to give up their holiday abroad, new phone, sky tv, fresh bmw, eating out, take aways etc etc. I do hope so because there’s going to be a lot pain to come.

factory in the Ukraine that makes Porsche / VW / Audi group looms has bern bombed - porsche announce it will cause serious production delays

seems more people talking about this than the fact they may struggle to get food ………. quite a reflection upon modern society !

Speaking to a neighbour today who is from Ukraine. He was telling me that there is a factory in Odessa which produces neon gas . 90% of the world’s microchips depend on that gas for there production. Taking that factory out of production would fairly turn the world economy upside down.

This is true, but pig and poultry producers still haven’t seen price rises to cover their costs, it will take a bit of time but unless the retailers put their hands in their pockets demand will fall.
Will you just not restock?

Must be tough for pig and poultry guys with feed prices where they are.

Trouble is it’s a long term process. They have to book their next batch of chicks far ahead.

Same was said about the bird flu job. Farms that got culled by that couldn’t just restock again the following week…..the chicks just aren’t on the shelf to buy. Many had to wait months before they could get new stock apparently.

Anyone heard prices for feed barley? Hearing some crazy prices being talked about here in NI seems to be a fair bit higher here than everywhere else.
