Your quite right 2022 demand for diesel looks to be heading to be less than 2020. Sales of new diesel cars has collapsed and nobody wants second hand diesel cars opting for either petrol or electric. Even those with diesel vehicles have cut back on usage due to the high price of diesel compared to 2020. (Increase of 50p per ltr).2022 demand is nothing like 2020 & although the UK has a surplus of petrol refining it is still dependent to a certain extent on Russian diesel refining & would find it difficult to make up the shortfall quickly if it suddenly stopped, the EU would be in a similar position & would compete for supplies if Russia turned off the tap suddenly.
