The Russian Sanctions

I follow you train of thought and prodding at the French Peasant. But I ask is there not an element of a two way street. If Putin and the Russian Regime meant business why has the gas not been turned off. There is a war on after all. That I find odd.
But atm it's a phoney war except for the ukraine, the west is imposing sanctions but still buy gas, the west is sending a lot of kit to the Ukraine, russia is still buying western goods and selling us gas.

Really. No gas might make many a European country think twice about sending more armaments to ukraine? Given the reported effectiveness of those weapons am surprised the russian military and general public aren't asking for the screws to be turned
The Russians and what they want to do

Natural gas imports by pipeline and country 2019-2020

France imported 25.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas by pipelines in 2020. The majority of the imports came from Norway, followed by the Netherlands. Natural gas imports decreased by 31 percent in 2020,

So what!
Don't use much here, especially in comparison with Germany, France runs on electric. Covid shut a lot , everywhere, which you know full well. Russian gas is not France's be all and end all. We could stop taking Russian gas easier than the UK stop Russian diesel imports.

You'll be walking I take it?

Russia, the Netherlands, and Saudi Arabia were large sources of road diesel in 2020; these three countries accounted for 62 per cent of total road diesel imports in 2020.

DUKES 2021 Chapter 3 Oil and oil products - GOV.UK

Think the Dukes report above needs to be compulsory reading for the armchair warriors who do not realise the importance of the UK refining industry and the UK role in emergency fuel stocks. Think the penny is starting to drop with the EU that the UK can manage quite easily without Putin fossil fuel unlike the EU. Can see it getting very interesting if the Middle East up the supply of crude oil to UK for refining in UK to supply EU market.

2022 demand is nothing like 2020 & although the UK has a surplus of petrol refining it is still dependent to a certain extent on Russian diesel refining & would find it difficult to make up the shortfall quickly if it suddenly stopped, the EU would be in a similar position & would compete for supplies if Russia turned off the tap suddenly.

We have been using russian diesel due to price but yes we should stop it.
If it's so easy why are you still buying russian gas ?
