Sticks with me a bit father took bad with an illness after he had a lot of sheep taken out. He was probably going to get it anyway but we all think the stress set it away

Those trade boys can take some brews tooo!!Our sparky is married too the Mrs’s best friend. So we still get £100/day in his hand and as many brews as he can sup…
I dont see what they achieved by doing it tbh, numbers are back up too.

There’s plenty of areas not up too pre F&M levels. It was one of the things that drove people too the agri environment schemes too survive
Do you not recycle it when he’s gone?
I havent looked at the data but i would guess sheep numbers would be back up to pre f + m ones

Drove to the vets last week and all the fields that used to have ewes in were just full of rape and wheat….and this is land that alway had sheep in

TBF the Snowie family had been heavily involved in all sorts of waste management long before FM. They were just a farming family that started out doing a bit of opencast reclamation, then got into sewage sludge etc.
They just had the balls and inclination to go after a contract that not many other companies were interested in. The kit would all be be part financed by the gov.
Sadly the money did the family no favours at all. One brother died last year in his early fifties, and the rest of the family have had various difficulties.

There is only a fraction of the sheep around here that there was pre 2001. A lot of sheep have come off the north Pennines and Lake District fells and never returned due to various ‘schemes’.

It gave the big noises the excuse they were looking for too destock the fells
Is that more to do with headage sub stopping though? Alot of the welsh commons/hills etc were smothered in sheep when headage was on but destocked once it was linked to acerage
That and the age of the average shepherd/farmer
