Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

All the local gossips have us getting rid of all our cows!🤦‍♂️🤣

The lad that helps us asked if he would still have a job.

News to us.

Haven't even had the discussion yet. Have 700 acres of arable, so that should support them and keep our heads above water. Crops look fantastic, but that's mainly because cut back on fert and put cattle muck on everything. So mixed farming works. Not that, that will be news to most on this thread.

If it continues losing money long term changes will be made. Hope to see out the storm for now.

That's the problem though in my opinion. People like us willing to subsidise beef with income from other parts of business. We need everyone to cut back and reduce supply. As simple as that.
Which bit of the business is pulling it back ??
I thought you outwinterd your cows on stubbles and stores and fat always seem to be good prices with home grown feed ??
Hope things improve for you

Case. I did look into one at Christmas, I think it was £17k but wasn’t man enough for post banger.
There seems to be a big jump in prices for tractors when you go from 70hp to 90+hp from what I've seen. You can get a 70hp tractor for not much more than 25k but if you start going to 90+hp it goes to 40k pretty quickly.

That’s it there ^ think it’s been for sale for a while
Unfortunately a big part of the comments under the picture were all for these trees with only a few questioning the sense in any of this
They can plant that same area on some of mine and I will swap them
i wonder if the people in the comments who are all for it will be thinking the same in 20 years time when all they have to eat is some pine bark

We are too reliant on bought in feed. Rely on lots of fert to grow grass.
Yes I can understand the position your in the problem with bought in feeds is it’s going through to many peoples hands and everyone needs a profit each time which is understandable and the fert is just crazy for the return ratio on grass for sucking cows
