Well what’s happening is some folks are quietly getting out, you can see it here in this area two neighbouring farms decided the cows were going or to be reduced last month. These people are all bought and paid for. Some are selling land. This is really my point there’s sense in demonstrating to the powers that be wether it’s government or processors or whoever that this beef and lamb job will be significantly reduced in output if values don’t align with inputs.
If anyone ever asks again why farmers don’t sell in a united fashion the answer is a few pages back on here

All the local gossips have us getting rid of all our cows!🤦‍♂️🤣

The lad that helps us asked if he would still have a job.

News to us.

Haven't even had the discussion yet. Have 700 acres of arable, so that should support them and keep our heads above water. Crops look fantastic, but that's mainly because cut back on fert and put cattle muck on everything. So mixed farming works. Not that, that will be news to most on this thread.

If it continues losing money long term changes will be made. Hope to see out the storm for now.

That's the problem though in my opinion. People like us willing to subsidise beef with income from other parts of business. We need everyone to cut back and reduce supply. As simple as that.

Hasn’t this always been the case of altering the system we have and in my case buying into things that most people are getting out of
