Claas combine quotes

With some areas harvest little more than a month away it could get interesting if sourcing spare parts become an issue.
If you've got a Claas you will probably have less of a problem than with other makes. Obviously you need to make sure you order your parts correctly otherwise you might get 12 seats instead of the 12 seals ordered that arrived at Class Sleaford by mistake.

Bit of a poor show really. With once great companies like Ruston Proctor based here Lincs knocking out threshing machines by the thousand we are now reliant on combines made abroad of evermore fickle design under evermore precarious circumstances. How did we get into such a vulnerable position?
Hornsby from Grantham sold the first tractor as we know them with an oil fired engine, that same first tractor returned to the factory to be retrofitted with Hornsby's patented track system, Holt and Co bought that patent which then became Caterpillar.
Also designed and made threshing machines and world leaders for traction engines to power them.
Not so much as a wheel nut made in Lincolnshire for cereal harvesting machinery now?

I asked the local claas rep about a used combine he had sent me pics of a fortnight ago
I asked if it was still available, he said no, it was going out to a farmer who was not going to get his new one by harvest time

Ok clever clogs, how exactly did Thatcher have any bearing on the demise of the UK combine industry.
Can you name 1 successful UK designed and built combine which was in production in the UK when she was PM
In fact Ransomes were the only UK designed and built UK combines and they ceased in 1976
Thatcher ruined most uk manufacturing with her strong pound obsession.
Mf built combines in kilmarnock till about 1980 i think

Well New Holland order books are open now for 2023 (In fact they have been open for over a month). Max terms now on until July 1st. There are orders already going into the system, so I suggest you give your NH dealer a call if your thinking of changing for next year, definitely an advantage to fix the price now.

He's confusing 'combines' with 'coal mines', an easy mistake to make.

The abolition of free school milk weakened the young who were unable to do the heavy lifting required to build combines in Suffolk. Allis Chalmers built combines in Stamford until 1971 Stamford is the next town to Grantham where Mrs Thatcher was born there's great rivalry between the town's so she probably had a hand in closing the factory ( nothing to do with bad combines ).

There were no UK designed and built combines since Ransomes.
The MF and AC machines were built from kits and there production here was solely to do with import duties being very much lower than full machines.
AC pulled out of the market. MF closed the Kilmarnock plant in 1980
