That looks a reflection of the grass situation down there. Be another £20 a piece of it had rained like it did with us for last three weeks

why does anyoneI sent cattle to them for the first time in ages and I won't be repeating the bad experience!
why does anyone
Larrys been at that for decades , he bought the bought the beef industry for a penny a kilo but the reality is the farmers paid himBecause they quote a price much higher than the opposition and then they grade them so badly you would have been better off taking the lower price!!!
Are their not more outlets ?It's unpopular and unfashionable to say this on here BUT for anything other than the smartest lighter weight cattle, for me ABP invariably comes out on top. Never been disappointed with how they've graded and killed out. They pay quickly. Usually the best price and that's for bulls, steers/heifers or cows. I for one can't get on sending anything to Pickstock and others rave about them?! Horses for courses.
Larry keeps buying them - woodheads next? Are their not more outlets ?
Very worrying , dealing with larry accelerates this as well …… future is bleak .Larry keeps buying them - woodheads next?
Can't see competition commission being interested in today's 'food must be cheap' environment
hope not but i have heard rumours, its sad if woodheads go.Larry keeps buying them - woodheads next?

Do you not send your beauties liveweight?Yes plenty just used them as an example. I have a good relationship with the agent for ABP and that is as much the reason why I send things there as anything else. Not knocking other places, just another example of how everyone's different but it doesn't make anyone wrong.
Geography is an issue here. We've got Scotland (where the passports don't fit) on 2 sides, and the sea on another. Given that my dairy-bred cattle aren't going to set the world on fire live, it's a long drive to find a non-abp plant. Are their not more outlets ?
They only want ewes under 30kg, generally kill at 39-40% depending on cover they have and what sort of ewe they are etc. Welshies and 1st crosses with cover do ok there outside of high demand festival season when they are better sold live. Seen plenty of 50kg ewes under £50 at live auctions recently. TBH I thinks there's a few buying live for ABP under cover at auctions around here.Do ABP ever get any ewes at £3.10??
The market price for the last few months would have been nearer£3.80!!
