Sorry for the late reply Bill. Hard to say really but hill type are definitely smaller, stockier and slower maturing. Hill rams are smaller sold as two shears than almost all of the park shearlings. Hill lambs aren't as long as the park type which seems to make a big difference in the store ring. Didn't weigh stores at the time but I'd definitely say with us they'd be a month later to get to the same money.What’s the size difference roughly between hill and park tups/ewes ?Only really had anything to do with hill types, either from Lairg as lambs to store , or ewes from Lockerbie !
Like all breeds, there's horses for courses though. I'd imagine on a lot of places, the parkies would grow too much frame before getting fat.
