Should have waited till the bucket went clang on summat!!

Should you need anyone with a metal detector of better spec than the MOD just shout...... I have one of these....

Anti climax I'm afraid...... No credible evidence so police wouldn't authorise bomb squad.....(even though they were happy to come out)

Awful attitude I'd push for the bomb squad to check it out.

What sort of evidence are they looking for? Word of mouth should be enough, in my opinion, as what else could it be after all this time? So if and when something goes bang, will they say "lessons have been learned" rather than engage brain....

Should've told em the blokes who rolled it in were dark skinned swarthy types, with bushy beards,wearing long flowing robes.
That'd got their attention.

We have plenty of gentlemen around us that are happy to remove scrap metal free of charge with there hiab lorry,day or night,even when your not home!!.. im sure they would help you out!!..

Pump the water out. Then don't invite the local metal detecting club not to do any detecting. Shouldn't be a problem as there's no evidence to detect.

Think positive,if you do trigger it,it'll save a hell of a digging,and you would be the first TFF member in orbit.On the other hand,a HIAB lorry playing now you see me,now you don't as it drops a lump of bomb onto its bed would be a big hit on Youtube.

I'm sorry @DFC2 2 but those latest pictures you've posted show you to be really irresponsible ..... you've totally failed to ensure the safety of that nice silver pick-up parked up next to the pond. If the bomb had gone off it could have been seriously damaged and you'd have lost your no claims discount. Shape yourself up man

Thanks for pointing that out I feel horrible in my total lack of attention to the safety of the pick up! Must do better next time !

Maybe it was an old oxy or acetylene bottle which you uncovered while draining the pond but with all the stories of a bomb in the pond you thought it best to call the bomb squad in to do a full sweep of the area.
