Farmers earn more from YouTube than their crops

I was told the same thing yesterday.
As creators we were able to choose to have ads, choose where they went and choose if you could skip them.
Not now.
A few weeks back YouTube informed us that they would now choose where the ads went and what type.
Since then all I've seen are ads longer than the bloody video with 'Your video will start soon'. They will be charging the advertisers more and overall YouTube are paying less.

They'll get away with doing it too, there's not really any other platform of that scale available to content creators.

I seem to get the same 3 or 4 adverts each time, no I don't want to join "Zoe" whatever that is, and can't bloody afford a holiday with Tui.

May look into YouTube Premium if I can convince the family that they won't need Spotify then.

When I created The Content Farm website I made sure that the adverts would still play when embedded on there, oddly since YouTube's recent change they now don't play - the yellow markers shows up in the video progress bar where the ads should be but nothing happens 🤷‍♂️ I'm sure YouTube will fix that.

I don't understand the need for all the big numbers though.
"Hey, how much is that bag of cement ?"
95,000,000,362 lbs
"Oh, 25 kilos..."
That's as big as 8 football fields or

Has anyone ever written a song in Kilometres ? 😂

Yes, you can imagine the confusion if you read a combine sales brochure in US-speak:

This combine has an unloading auger with a 109 bushels/second unloading rate. The hydraulic filter has a 19.721 quarts per minute filtration rate at maximum engine speed. The cabin has been revised to give 17 cubits of elbow room...

Reminds me of my favourite joke about why Fendt tractors have only 2 gears. In the manual it says to use gear for one heavy draft work whilst gear 2 should only be used for invading France.

Ah thanks that explains a lot. I thought a lot of the regular people I watch had just upped the adverts. Some are ridiculous now
