you have effectively worked 18 days for free i don't find that very amusing, perhaps you do?

With the caveat that employers can stipulate that annual leave cannot/may not be taken at a busy time of year. We state March in our employees' written statement of employment particulars.That is your employer's problem. Getting paid for unused AL always seems to have been very difficult in my experience but rolling over a certain amount (up to 12 or 15 days) each year, has never been a problem.I’d just like to say this is in no way a moan I’m happy with my job an my employer I was just asking what others do ie do you get paid for unused holiday , lose it or take it or perhaps they roll it over to next year , I’m well aware of the fact it’s my bosses job to arrange cover and im also aware it’s my duty to book holiday but sometimes it’s not as simple as that especially when livestocks involved.
