no one will ask any difficult questions ……. not the “done thing” within the NFU

you just say “yes” a lot if you want to get on

“ fairwell tour” does she think she’s a pop star 🤣

she shouldn’t be allowed to make the AGM as president - a vote of no confidence should be called at the 22nd Jan council meeting, she needs keeping way from any board room that can further damage this industry

i can’t think of any individual who has damaged the NFU as much as this in farming history
Council will do nowt, they are completely inthrall to super Minette. Some of council may be telling you that they arent happy @Clive But its just words untill they actually do something.

Never ask an open question ffs, it's a licence to bullsh!t

He needs to be specific about the RT inquiries or the GFC.
@Wolds Beef could report back. But knowing her as we do, she'll have a mind on her legacy so it'll go along the lines of having her cake and eating it:
Net zero before a fossil fuel substitute has been proven and rolled out, whilst keeping farmgate prices at record lows, whilst endorsing the end of BPS, whilst telling farmers that the GP must have cheap food...
You get the picture. I'll spare you anymore.

It's serious because her type eats this up like it's genuinely sustainable! 🤬

For @steveR and others! Batters is doing a farewell tour!! I have booked a ticket!! But I have a reason, IF I can pluck up courage and we get chance to ask questions. It has to be very short and to the point in a room where not all farmers will have heard of this problem. Any Ideas>!!

This. The council are weak.

the only way to beat this is leave. It needs some big names to put their money where their mouth is and bail. If they don’t they support RT and are double speaking themselves.

I agree 100% - none of them seem willing to stand up and be counted

the nfu has develiped a very harmful culture that rewards those that don’t rock the boat and rejects those that do meaning thet are all to scared to speak up

Exactly BUT they all do as they are told upon promise of gravy (power, ego, money or all 3) in the future

The higher profile council / board members are the least likely to (publicly) speak out as they have the most to loose

I think the problem is bigger than one person, it is the culture that results from undue influence from the processor/ retail sector.
The NFU is losing members, certainly active farming members, the BFU is gaining numbers and thanks to a lot of effort by a few people is starting to gain its voice.
The question for Govt will be, do you listen to an organisation that is financed by food industry corporations and is losing farmers, or do you listen to an organisation that is run for farmers by farmers and gaining members if you want to gauge farming opinion?

Alright. 1 I am not involved in any way other than being a member of the NFU. 2.Lets put it this way, I am over retirement age!! But I did work for them in my Youth at County and Branch Level. And both of my old Bosses and the hierarchy at the time are probably turning in there graves or high back retirement chairs.. I need a short and carefully planned question about this whole debacle. The chair is our new County Chairman who I know well but still suspect he might do as suggested and ban any questions about it.!! But I would love to spoil her day if I can pluck up courage.

The buck stops with the “leader” - regardless of who is doing what she is ultimately responsible

council should call a vote of no confidence,. Her CV needs damaging to keep her away from other roles where she can continue her destruction of our industry

although shes very rapidly becoming unemployable imo. ........... Would be ironic if she had to go back to ACTUALLY farming for a living!

That's a little bit of my fear though

Mrs T didn't like moaning farmers and if BRC keep profiling themselves as the masters of suppressing food price inflation (yes I know they don't necessarily) / delivering carbon goals, the Gov may actually want NFU ............

"Could the President give an assurance that no major RT initiatives (including GFC) will be undertaken until after a second survey consultation has taken place with all farmers and AHDB levy payers ?"

Which is fine they can be as sh!t as they like. But when decisions affect all farmers then we have to act
