And wtf is the social justice movement?
Is that where rich toffs should be turned off their estates, cos they've got tonnes of money and stuff?

Serious question, because you keep banging on about these things. Explain.
The SNP believe in social justice. You have described part of their solution.
Land tax, shooting tax, community (IE taxpayer) buyout, farm business plans for communities and higher income tax.

In the land of the blind the one-eyed man is King. The bloke's a knob. Every article he writes he manages to shoehorn a pop at the environmental movement, because it is good copy and he can knock out his word count in his sleep. If he bothered to think this stuff through properly, he would find that on the real issues that affect farmers the environmental / social justice movement is his ally.
No
Clarkson gets across the essence of many of farmings problems in a humorous manner that appeals to a diverse audience, without getting bogged down in detail. And gets paid for it .
He makes the majority of other farming and countryside ‘champions’ look rather pious and dull . All power to him .

Yes it has. Govt were considering stopping the rebate at the same time that they stopped it in construction, etc. The Chancellor in 2020, a Rishi Sunak, backtracked and even mentioned NFU lobbying as the reason in his budget speech.

Yah, boo, NFU. ;)
Rest assured , us peasants will soon be educated that due to rewilding ,sfi direct drilling , sfi fallows , reduced stocking etc , that we won’t be using anywhere near as much red diesel as before and so won’t notice the price increase . The public will be happy that it drives all the digester silage teams off the road as well .

here we go again.

Who exactly is this environmental movement?
Do you get a badge?

We have done this, but happy to do it again. Scroll down to the bottom of this page:

Insofar as food and farming is concerned, those organisations are the environmental / social justice movement. Sustain, LWA etc. The people you love to hate. 'Strokers' I believe was your eloquent word for them.

Anyone on here who is a BFU member will have received the same newsletter as I did last week, saying that the BFU has joined that coalition. Presumably because the BFU recognises that it is a campaign that goes to the heart of the issues facing their members.

And that's why Clarkson is not just a knob but a dangerous knob. By continually scoring cheap points against the environmental movement, he is feeding the lie that farming would be so much better off if we could only get rid of the lentil knitters, and in so doing allowing everyone to avoid addressing the real issues.

That's neither fair nor accurate.

In both series' he has done as much to address the issues around farmers responsibility to protect the environment as any environmental group, but balanced against the requirement to produce food.

Have you actually watched both series' of "Clarkson's Farm"?

Maybe they'll get an exemption as part of the 'green agenda'.
It’s ironic they are the one industry in Germany that’s not allowed to claim the ag diesel rebate back as they are classed as industrial process not ag. They pay full white price for all AD things from ploughing to harvest.

Nope, but I do read the articles his acolytes share on here.

In one of them he wrote about the imminent closure of his local home kill abattoir. An opportunity for him to explain the reasons behind the loss of our local abattoirs, the role of the shopper in this, and what he Jezza was doing to turn things round. Instead he blamed Greta and her vegan chums. Opportunity missed, but hey no matter he will have raised a giggle, reinforced preconceptions and collected his fee.

It is hugely frustrating. If he would just put his undoubted journalistic skills to constructive use he could be a useful ally. Instead, as said, he's a knob.

Well then permit me to treat your ill-informed criticism of his views on environmental matters with the appropriate degree of gravitas.

None!

The OP was about his newspaper article. I have given my views on his newspaper articles. His output on the idiot box is neither here nor there.

To be fair, that's not what @delilah said at all.
What did "she" say, and either way provide a solution as the status quo isn't sustainable?
Equally the use of subsidies or other direct/indirect funding mechanisms ( their just manipulative book cooking exercises) also doomed to fail.
Maybe its time for UK agriculture to stop being a bunch of whiney pussy's and coordinate to do something constructive and for UK government to stop interfering as a result of NGO's with agendas or other self interested unrelated organisations.
