We are chucking hundreds of millions of cash in to Ukraine which isnt going to stop any time soon, and probably other countries now in the middle east. Train drivers, doctors, teachers (you name it) are on strike for more money, if we arent in a recession now we soon might be so taxes may be down eventually, youve also got the cost of Covid, and they have just cancelled HS2 because they havent got the money which has been incredibly detrimental and damaging to the Conservative party, so that would have been a very difficult decision.they haven’t run out of money ( far from it !) and i reckon overall less will end up being claimed on sfi than bps …… it suits some but certainly not all
All this has happened after Brexit and the introduction of new environmental schemes. They are only uping the payments on SFI to entice farmers. If we had all signed up the values would be static or dropping as they would have achieved their goal and they would be able to boast this at the general election. This to me points in the direction of DEFRA and the Govt being worried about the countries finances.
