Targeting the wrong people

as said causing the public inconvenience will damage any support …… bad idea

if you really must protest then hit the supermarkets one at a time, they are the route of all these problems and the public don’t care that tesco is closed, they just go to the next supermarket and don’t miss hospital appointments etc !

i understand that BUT ultimately if it wasn’t for the back door supermarket systematic take over / race to the bottom over the last 30 year farmers wouldn’t even need government support

big retail is where the ultimate blame sits for fundamental lack of economic viability of uk food production imo despite all the smaller picture sideshows
As much as I agree with you, I disagree, yes the supermarkets are to blame, but how can you blame them for taking a free ride? Senedd

As much as I agree with you that the A48 is the wrong place, I disagree the angst at the supermarkets, can you really blame them for taking a comparatively free ride? it's been given to them on a plate. Who is the governing body that allows it and supports it ultimately? Senedd is definitely the proper place to protest as is Westminster, yet it would be far easier and more effective to aim the inconvenience at the supermarkets. I find it a bit farcical the hoo ha kicked up that one lane of the A48 is blocked up with tractors, I've rarely been down that road where one lane isn't coned off for apparent road works for mile after mile.

they have lobbied and infiltrated every influential part of uk agriculture and governance - don’t underestimate the damage they have done and continue to do with their race to the bottom / cheap food prices

Doing the same here: only 50 acres less barley but just not worth all the hassle for about £150/ poxy tonne!

Basically growing a crop that nobody really wants and ripening the real risk of making a loss if the weather is dodgy at any time from March to September!

Been there and done it far too often, even when prices were just about good enough to make a margin. Now they are carp and I am 67 so its bye bye spring barley and good riddance!
perhaps we are all looking at it wrong , defra pay to put in bird cover at good rate , everyone jumps in , supply drops, price rises , would like to ask our arable friends what price is a balance point to grow wheat , if inputs stay the same ? genuine question , defra can then drop envio payments to reduce over supply or shortage

The very big farmers around here have done very nicely through lucrative growing
and packaging contracts to supermarkets.
I very much doubt you will see them on a protest.
The supermarket being there only customer means in a sense the supermarket owns there business.

Same with our local slaughterhouse. Everything goes to Tesco. So is it just Tesco trading under a different name?

my last drive though Wales in November on a saturday i counted 6 ( kinda excessive!) in a 80 mile trip through mid wales via bala to angelsey . ……. all hiding behind bushes trying to collect a bit more tax for Cardiff

they always look so disappointed i’m not speeding but they can’t hide from technology 🤣

I'm really not underestimating it, but who's fault is it for accepting it? If 100,000 rapists lobbied for rape to be legitimised would it be their fault if it was? It's the government's fault for accepting it Clive.

Apparently there's a massive tractor protest convoy currently making its way along the A48 in South Wales, towards the M4. I only know because a friend has been stuck in traffic for an hour now on her way to a hospital appointment which she's waited a year for, and now will miss. Is this really the way to make friends and influence people?
Should have left earlier
A big accident would be just thesame delay
