My family has been approached about a project on their farm in Canada. There’s not much information / discussion about projects there so I’m wondering if anyone can share what amount of money is being deposited in trust/bonds for future land remidiation?

Thanks for the reply. I A firm looking at putting one on some land near to me and, although it will not be right next to any dwellings, there is a lot of unrest in the area about it. The main problem seems to be they are dangerous and the poisonous gasses can affect an area of many miles. I wanted to know what the truth is.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good planning-related moan.
Quite!
The chat is that the smoke can be dangerous for up to 9km (I'm pretty sure it wasn't miles!)
I know of two others with planning permission, and one other prospective in our area, all of which are within 4km. It would seem that because the others aren't nearbye NIMBY doesn't come in to play.

How do I find out if the substation near me has any capacity? There are 2 battery storage sites within 10 miles of me built in the last year, but they both connect to a different sub-station. I have 20 acres of land, 5 of which are brownfield site within 1.4km of the nearest substation (400kv). Any help appreciated as just started looking into the battery storage after speaking with a local farmer who put 49mw on a 4 acre site 5 miles away. After reading this thread, it seems to be the biggest hurdle initially is if the local grid has capacity?

If there is spare capacity you would have been bombarded by letters I’d suggest.

You can ask the DNO but there will be a fee and there answers can be a bit ‘fluid!’

Or approach a developer and ask them too. I can recommend a few

If you can recommend some that would be great. I've looked on the interactive map on the DNO's website and every other sub station is listed except the one near me (the other 2 local SS's are listed as unconstrained). I know it's operational etc and had big upgrades made a few years back to accommodate new incoming supplies

TIA

And the DNO, will still need a minimum of £5M for the additional upgrades that will be essential...
