I doubt many of us will see a commercial fusion reactor. ITER is still testing then they we will build DEMO after that we would see a commercial reactor but the timescales on these projects are pretty big and i dont think DEMO has even been announced yet?
DEMO technical consultation 2028. Turn on 2040. As per UK fusion materials roadmap. But we know that's just an excuse to keep funding flowing.

We’ve got a £2k/MW carrot dangling on front of us at the moment. First contact made.
What company is that with & what part of the country are you?
I have a friend who works for a renewable company & they are primarily looking at 'non anchor pylons' due to the cost of justifying anything above 132kv.
It sounds odd as I was approached because of the anchor pylon and the location of said pylon o_Oo_O

Question to the experts on here, are the storage companies now looking at battery storage on 400kv pylons?
After a quick google search I see there are plans around UK for these storage plants.

There is a battery storage base in a substation (which is 400kv) near me, but we are on the same line. Does that make any difference (would they put another storage site only 3 miles or so away from another?)

Location below my username. 132 kV line running through our land. 2030ish so not getting too excited at this point....

They like to be as close as possible to the existing substation. However, they could easily go a mile or so away.

Presumably a new 400kV substation would be totally out of the question on cost grounds.

I've a feeling cabling is about £2 million per km (not certain about that, someone might know better), but a 200MW project is going to cost ballpark £75-£100 million.

our 50mw storage setup is circa £12-14m build out cost

Ah right, OK. Suppose it might depend on grid connection cost. I'm told it's often £10-20 million for National Grid connection for 200-500MW, if I've been told the truth! Obviously depends.

Energy Storage News website suggests BESS gross operating profit has been about £70,000/MW over past year or so, but more likely £50k/MW if electric prices settle down to normal.

Sheesh. And then they offer the landowner a couple of grand/MW.

Hi could anyone help with pointing me in the right direction for a good land agent please? I live in the Rotherham/Sheffield area. I can't seem to find any that are local.
I've been approached about battery storage on my land. Any help much appreciated 😊.
Thanks in advance.
