It was a while ago but as I remember I removed the cap from the reservoir then just pushed fluid back through the bleed nipples on the brake callipers with a syringe with good fitting flexi hose ( no clamps) . I am not sure but also seem to remember the DX has 2 callipers on each rear disc.
Assuming that your Simon Topper is one of the later ones with electric solenoids You need to check that it is getting power to the coil on the down solenoid.

Before you start blasting run the compressor with all hoses connected, valves open & deadman valve open for at least 10 mins to warm the pot. Coil up a length of hose & put in a tank of cold water to cool the air before the moisture separator. Use a good quality separator like a PCL dropout...
I wouldn't let that stop you, mine has been on the tractor around 7 years & it wouldn't break the bank if it had to be replaced. I use it to accurately run 540 rpm off the 1000 shaft to save fuel.
You should be able to work it out with a battery & a multimeter, so if you connect what you think should be + & - you can then test for an out put. You will also need to check polarity of the signal ie they would both need to be marked pnp or npn.
