Large scale battery storage contracts

Any more news from anyone on this ? @MrNoo

Heard from mine today

Sounds like there are still companies willing to shell out for planning and grid for decent sized PV sites with a view to building them in 2-3 yrs time subsidy free.

10 mw of battery storage for 250 kwh's needs an acre of space apparantly.

Returns are still extremely favourable if you can get that contract signed...

Will know at end of April when the DNO gets back to the company I am dealing with. Will only have 2 years left of planning come this summer but I am sure there is a "get around" for the 3yr deadline.

The electricity company say my potential site can be used , anyone gone any further negotiating with one of the prospectors out there , someone said i might need a long spoon to do a deal !

You will almost certainly be better to own the batteries yourself, you will be offered crumbs in comparison to what the site is worth.
Where in Cumbria are you?

Was offered between 25-30k for 10Mw storage from the company that got planning for a solar farm here, they decided to drop the farm, and after being buggered about by them for nearly 2 years told then to stick it, told them they could have storage with a solar farm but not without. So the option will eventually run it's course and I'll be free of them. After getting wind that other companies were approaching me via 3rd parties, they decided that they will try and make the solar farm work but it's just their way of keeping us tied to them.

our offer is half of yours , not quite as big mind

I know a farmer getting 10k a year for a site earning around 500k . Not battery storage but in reality it is the grid connection that is valuable as much as what it is used for.
Multi use grid connections mean more income streams and if you sign over the connection you sign over the income.

Did said farmer use an agent? I bet he gulped at the 8k quote his agent gave so went alone.

A good agent knows what value the site is worth and will negotiate accordingly. You can spread the risk by taking a share of their profit, a share of what's produced or any number of structures to see that everyone gets a fair share.

Most farmers don't have the expertease or time to build their own, it's a big risk in a market changing by the week. Let someone else build it it, take the risk but sign you up for a 10 yr contract of guarantee rent

Just caught this thread. We were approached by a company for solar panels and have come back wanting battery storage as our grid capacity must be good. Been offered the 10k an acre for 1/2 acre but got a feeling that's half the rate.
Got an agent involved now, but always interested in what you guys know.
Just st the exclusivity stage.

I had the same request. The form they sent basically wanted me to apply on their behalf so that they would have the option on the grid capacity not me or another company, effectively tying you to that company. Same thing was going on with solar panel companies a couple of years ago. I think it's very underhand and it would put me off dealing with them. No way any farmer should do this, do the DNO in your name and if successful companies will be Qing up to put battery storage on your land.
Hi. Did you ever proceed with your DNO application in the end?
