Large scale battery storage contracts

Yeah you would do I would have thought.

That links talks of 33Kva lines needed, surely most land owners interested in this would be switched on and therefore already tried solar so I am not sure how many will be left with Grid.

Good if you can get it though!

With all these projects, solar, wind, STOR, batteries etc - I would want to know what happens if the company goes T'up.

Last thing you want is a acre of old technology (batteries).

They become obsolete quickly and wont be easy to shift.

We have had an inquiry from UK firm acting for a multinational , a 33 kv line and substation on farm. the offer was half per acre under that quoted above. The same outfit were looking for solar farm sites 18 months ago . one acre needed for shipping containers etc. It surely stands more chance of getting planning than solar/ wind but the rates / industrial aspect concerns me.

It has as much chance of getting planning as a similar size industrial unit on agricultural land.

Rates are paid by the Solar Co, not the landowners, written in the contract. If they go tits up, batteries contain lead unless lithium, plenty of lead and I'm sure you could find someone who drives a white Transit who'd take it off your hands for cash!

If it goes tits up (which it will as the technology is obsolete) your left with an industrial building you have to pay rates on.

So as an aside, a friend has been approached re storage but I am sure he only has 11kva lines near his buildings, so assume that 11kva is sufficient, they wanted 10,000sq/ft shed. I have 11Kva near the farm buildings so maybe another option and think it would be far enough away from the PV site.

I think you need a larger supply than that ? 33kva?

I have looked into this and was told that it had to be 33 power lines. 11 was not enough and 66 power lines were to big. If you have 33 power lines then that's the first hurdle jumped the next one is then grid capacity.
I am no expert but what I was told via an agent.
Would be very interested to here from any that are able to make it work on 11kva lines. @MrNoo

How can you tell if power lines are 11kv or 33kv?

Like I said I am no expert but a very rough rule of thumb to go by is most 33kv lines are on double telegraph poles. But there will be exceptions.
