How far off is harvest?

Get a grip man, stop worrying it'll be fine, get your priorities right and get away fishing.
You will know by the wednesday night if it's worth sticking out for the rest of the week.
Got 3 days myself same week and I know what I won't be doing.

Tight lines

Got to be best man at a wedding the end of the week so that's an unmissable date whatever! Lots of family up there so even if we don't catch up anything it's still a good time.

Do you think pod sealant makes much difference? Haven't seen any trial data on it. Not planning on glyphosating the lot. Will probably do 6ac out of 180ac.

It must do something it can be a problem to clean out of the sprayer if you leave it too long. I figured it might give you piece of mind while you are pursuing the elusive whopper!

I reckon 4 weeks if you leave out the Glypho.
Neighbour reckons his 6 row Bazooka not much more than two weeks away.:nailbiting:

I reckon the glypho needs four weeks to do the job! Can see us spraying some off a week on Sunday - apart from am away that day so will be the Monday - and then getting all excited in three weeks, cutting 100m then packing up for another week.

It says on the can 21 days! But that doesn't stop people round here cutting 5/7 days after spraying!

That is true. Didn't put a picture of the winter barley up because I haven't got one, but I think that's going to be even earlier which will mean the OSR will have a bit more time. I was using the pictures I did have of the OSR to calibrate my expectations of the barley.

Fishing up on the Inver and the Kirkaig (near Lochinver). Might get a lesson on the Dee on the way up.

If your on the Crathes stretch of river Dee. That's our farm we rent. Can let me know what you think of our crops!

Quite a bit of it seemed to be disappearing down the river when I was there!

I did see once a field being sprayed *with what I cannot be sure* and then cut three days later. Was wheat. Can only presume it was water.

There is always one, and usually the same one, who needs to be first in OSR. It wont be me.

Where do you see your barley relative to your OSR?

Cutting or spraying? We are quite ahead in terms of development. I will take some tramline greens as they crisp up in the heap. I'd like to think if we sprayed off barley in about a fortnight that it would be ready a good fortnight after. Should be cut a week before we even start the rape. OSR varies from quite toasted now (early drilled Extrovert) to green (later drilled something or other).

OSR pic from 2 days ago.

I have for the last 20 years.
I was wondering if the rotaries coped better than the walkers with green stalks.
Guy who used to do my combining had to wait for a load of cabernet and sesame one year as it just wouldn't have it, kept bridging over the chopper. Seed was fit but stalks were very green.
