@Bald Rick is selling an 8000 litreLooking for a 9000 litre bulk milk tank if anyone knows where there is one. Posted in wanted section but know not everyone looks.
So I recently found out something that really bought a smile to my face. 3 years ago a young lad and his mother knocked on my door looking for some work for him telling me he had driven tractors not keen on stock anything we can do. We do very little tractor work but took him on anyway. He spent the best part of 2 years with us helping out on weekends and grew to love the stockwork. He then progressed onto farm with our support, gained more experience and then managed to find one closer to home.
This young man is now 16, has left school and just been accepted into the local Ag college on a level 3 based purely on the expirience he gained with us. Now I know this has no picture but I really wanted to post a success story.
1 more youngster joins the industry!
looks like a bit of knapsacking is in order for those nettles
Does anyone have any idea how much a 50 point rotary, acr's, milk meters, adf, auto wash, heat time, sorting gate etc, would be have budget of around 750k.
Good job you have that budget, you'll probably need it.
So you are saying a 54 point rotrary isn't doing 200 cow's an hour ?300000 for the parlour and shedding gate. Plus 40k for adf then ice banks plate coolers bulk tanks etc
You can then add 200k for shed, concrete, power, water and paths to cubicle housing.
Unless your milking over 1000 cows I personally don't think you'll get your money back.
I think i'm going for a 32/64 swing with apollo. * I can move most of my current equipment.
Ive been out to plenty of GEA and Deleval 50/54 points and they are not getting the outputs over 200 at peak let alone start to finish. They are now getting a couple of years old and are starting to get massive maintenance bills.
Big advantage of the big swing is you can do the building work yourself and put the shed up yourself. So you can save yourself a lot of money.
They must be turning it by handSo you are saying a 54 point rotrary isn't doing 200 cow's an hour ?
Last 50 point rotrary I milked in comfortably done 500 in 2 hours , start to finish

Been hammering them with the topper this week, I'll try and spray them when they regrow later on in the season.looks like a bit of knapsacking is in order for those nettles
What's an Apollo system? Is the plan to have 1 or 2 people in there?
For 1 I think you could drop a couple of units and just have 28-30
For 2 people you will want at least 40:80 to see any time saving benefits of the Apollo system.
