British sheep breeds app

Hi,
long story short. My mum spins fleece to wool, to help her identify sheep/look up information about staple length or micron range etc when she is out and about I created her an app for her phone. 'British Sheep Breeds' (here).

As time has gone by the original app has become dated and I am now far more proficient in coding so during these lockdown evenings and weekends I have decided to revamp the app with the goal of rereleasing it bigger and better.

This is where you guys come in, as part of the update I would like to include better images then the ones I have currently. I thought I would ask rather than 'steal' images from google. I need landscape pictures of your sheep. ideally in the field with only one type of breed in shot.

The app is a non profit app purely for informational purposes, and it's basically just for my mother (and now friends) to use when they are out and about, however the better I can make it and the more people it helps is a bonus.

Please email me any images you are willing to let me use along with their breed to [email protected] below is a mock up of what it will look like (with a stock image of sheep) and a list of the sheep I require images for, anything you can do would be great.

Thanks in advance

At last, a thread on TFF, where somebody actually wants wool :woot: .What a breath of fresh air (y).Makes a change from all the shedding threads :)

When it comes to wool, you only need one breed on your App (whatever an App is:scratchhead:)
Forget the rest, get the best.......Lincoln Longwool.

Seriously though, I'm guessing you need something like this???......

Quite an array of breeds and crosses. But you missed the ''Cheviot Mule'', and even more disconcerting, you missed the ''Highland Mule''. But one of the latter, a particularly contencious and argumentative example, might be along shortly to dish out a severe reprimand.

In addition, you included the ''Lleyn'' as a breed, but there is no evidence that it exists in the pure form. It should realy be incuded in a list of Texel crosses.

Hi
I used a couple of books for reference as I have little knowledge of sheep myself. Looks like the books missed those out. I will review and make amendments.

Thanks for your assistance

I'm good thanks (y). As far as I can tell, the Scotch mule and the Highland mule have the same breeding (BF x BFL), so the OP is covered on that one.

Will the app include any other info about the different breeds at any point, other than specifically about wool?

So the app itself was designed for my mother who spins the wool. however if there are other vitals that you would like to see included (and I'm able to get this information for ALL breeds i have included) then i have no problem including them.

What sort of things were you thinking?

I'm probably getting too many ideas and complicating it!! Happens with most things the way my brain works...

I was thinking more about how it could be taken further as an educational app, potentially including other species of farm animals and info about them. From there it could be taken in several directions, for example, helping consumers understand where meat etc has come from, what breeds etc.

I like the idea however i feel its outside the scope of this app. I'm only interested in sheep for now :-D If you can think of any attributes that i can include for sheep then im happy to look into it and who knows maybe in the future there will be a British Cow Breeds app or a British Pig Breed app.
