two tractors racing , blow the picture right up ?
I think that may be part of the smashed one?
Looks like he was braking hard while moving over to the right, hit the lorry and the weight of trailer jacknifed the tractor. The broken glass suggests the lorry has not moved much after the impact so may have almost been stopped. Just speculation from the photo.
The dashcam will probably tell us the opposite

don't concern your self with facts this is just a gossip column :D
Exactly. I would imagine the road was not only closed for a while due to the scale of the clearance but because there would be an in-depth Road Traffic Accident Investigation.

The detail they go in to is extensive although it may be less as (happily) both drivers walked away

I would imagine the truck driver has more material to be examined on ; tacho, possibly telematics and on-board cameras

I am happy to wait to hear the official findings and, again, relieved that both drivers are reported to be walking wounded and not more severe injuries

Hopefully there isn't a cyclist or someone in the middle of that lot, that one of the vehicles was trying to avoid.
Artic petrol tanker got into difficulties on a downhill grade and failed to make the bend at the bottom, crossing over the other carriageway, through the barrier and down into the undergrowth. Driver shaken up but otherwise unharmed. After the panic died down one firecrew was detailed off to remain on site in case there was a spark. While waiting for the heavy lift trucks to arrive, one of the firemen realised that there was a car underneath and undetected. I had travelled that road in the same direction as the car about 15 minutes before.

Hence why I get annoyed with baby on board signs when there isn’t one

The original board was brought out in America after an RTC and nobody noticed the baby on the back seat

Over here it seems every tractor on the road has to be driven by a person under 18 (probably on €60 per day) with either their best friend or girlfriend in the passenger seat. I am not saying every teenager is dangerous, but I find, many are trying to impress their mates, and now a lot are texting each other and other outfits as they work. All that said, I think the worst culprits are the lads over 60 driving tractors, most here cant judge the tractor or the middle of the road. Our insurance companies are awash with premiums, so they dont care about accidents, the insurance companies just make more money in the process and after math.

Put dashcams in tractors!

The use of dash cams in the HGV world is not uncommon. Some companies have cameras facing the driver as well, a lot will sack you for being caught holding a phone whilst driving. A lot of them will have what is essentially a tracker on their vehicle as well, indicating speed, breaking inputs and break times etc. All standard fare in the haulage world.

Fleet of a few hundred PSVs we had a system that monitored Speed , Acceleration Braking Forces etc linked to bonus scheme.
Fuel usage dropped but insurance claims didn't..
Many had Cameras in and around the outside of the vehicle which occasionally proved useful unless tampered with. The next step that was coming were Forward and Driver Facing cameras...
